Sally Wheat is quickly becoming one of Houston’s freshest new designers, after turning her passion into a successful design firm.
In 2006, two of Wheat’s friends, who didn’t know each other, called her within the span of two days, begging her to design their rooms. Since then, she’s been quietly creating exquisite spaces, gaining clientele through word of mouth. Her beautiful home has been the inspiration for remodels and has been featured on the Cote de Texas and La Dolce Vita blogs as well as in Houston House and Home Magazine. In March of 2010, she decided to go full steam ahead and launch her own website. You can also find a collection of wonderful items Sally has for sale at her retail location at Memorial Antiques and Interiors.
Wheat’s rooms are light and airy, with an ease about them. She often starts with a neutral palette. “I love a good white or grey wall,” says Wheat. Not only are her rooms simply elegant, they’re also livable. Like Wheat, many of her clients have children, but she doesn’t think beauty must be sacrificed for functionality. Her style is current and fresh. She describes her taste as “quirky”, mixing modern and antique, the inexpensive with the pricey, and completing the look with organic pieces. Wheat has an acute sense of what her clients are looking for and pays great attention to deliver their desired results.
Sally Wheat is an exciting addition to the Houston design scene and, by the looks of it, will be around a long time to leave her mark.
